To Build a Better Richmond

You’ll be hearing more about these priorities as the campaign unfolds. My vision “To Build a Better Richmond” includes:

World Class Education

We have a moral and constitutional obligation to move beyond political slogans and guarantee that our schools provide children with world class skills and knowledge.

Fiscal Responsibility

We will have the most efficient and best managed city in Virginia.
If I am asking the school system to be effective with their dollars, then it is essential to do the same with the city’s administrative offices. To begin with, I will ask all department heads to trim the waste and excess spending.  My office will not be immune from this directive.

Healthcare

We must ensure that every child has a healthy and strong start.

If Richmond is to prosper, we must build a healthy city, particularly for our most vulnerable population – our children. We should be doing all that we can to give every child a healthy start on life.

Economic Development

To Build A Better Richmond, we must provide economic stimulus for private investment in our city.

We are seeing a resurgence of businesses investment downtown. Richmond has experienced incredible public and private economic development downtown that I will continue to encourage as mayor.

Initiating a Safety Net

To Build a Better Richmond it is imperative that we be as inclusive as possible in our neighborhood plans and initiatives.

Our city has witnessed phenomenal growth and success, but there have been members of our population excluded from this resurgence.

Our Neighborhoods

To Build a Better Richmond is to create safe and secure neighborhoods.

My vision for Richmond is a city where streets are safe and neighborhoods are inviting. A city where neighborhoods thrive and people are proud to say they love living here. Richmond is a city of great neighborhoods.

To Build A Better Richmond, I will focus on six critical issues:
